Perform responsible professional work in the implementation of therapeutic recreation programs designed to increase, maintain or restore physical and mental health function as directed by the physician. The individual is responsible for assisting patients in reaching their maximum performance levels in the areas of leisure, adaptive and recreational activities. Responsible for working with a team in the delivery of care and participates in educational experiences for interns.
Implements activities schedule and tracks patient schedules to ensure service delivery.
Completes documentation to include daily progress notes, discharge summaries, incident reports, inventory reports, purchase requisitions and work request.
Provides orientation for Patients to recreation therapy by conducting groups in recreational. Therapy, etc. as appropriate for the population served.
Develops curricula, activity ideas, and secures materials for assigned units
Maintains certification as a licensed recreational, occupational, music, speech, or other nationally publicly recognized certification body.
Candidate must be able to work weekends / rotating weekends, utilize sports and recreation equipment, computer knowledgs including knowledge of computer software such as Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Access.
One year experience working in and around behavioral health/ substance abuse inpatients.
