Job Description Summary
The Department of Health and Exercise Science at Wake Forest University (WFU) is seeking applicants to fill a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level with expertise in the Behavioral Sciences. Responsibilities include teaching courses in health psychology, statistics for the health sciences, research design, and behavioral health interventions at the undergraduate and graduate levels, mentoring undergraduate and graduate research projects and maintaining a productive research program. Additional responsibilities include departmental, college, and university service.
The department is located on the WFU Reynolda Campus. It has approximately 140 undergraduate majors and 18 master's level graduate students. Department faculty members have active external funding for interdisciplinary health-related research and have developed excellent collaborative partnerships and research teams across the Reynolda campus and with the Wake Forest School of Medicine (WFSM). Collaborative opportunities also exist within the numerous WFU and WFSM research institutes and centers, such as the Translational Science Center, the Clinical and Translational Science Institute, the Claude Pepper Older Americans Independence Center , and the Alzheimer's Disease Core Center. Applicants should have an earned doctorate (PhD or equivalent) in health psychology, behavioral medicine, neuroscience or a closely related field. Post-doctoral training and teaching experience at the undergraduate and graduate levels; educational background and research experience in clinical trials and health behavior interventions; demonstrated scholarship via first-authored publications; and a demonstrated potential for successful extramural funding are highly desirable.
