Make a Difference in the WakeMed Community as a Substance Abuse Specialist
As a Substance Abuse Specialist, you will be responsible for the coordination of substance abuse services at WakeMed. Further responsibilities include:
Assist with the orientation, clinical supervision, and evaluation of behavioral health staff providing substance abuse services
Assist with the development of substance abuse programming which includes participation in community initiatives that address substance abuse prevention
Assist with training of physicians and the interdisciplinary team to identify substance abusers and to implement appropriate intervention strategies
Provide substance abuse consultant services, primarily for trauma patients including: assessment, crisis intervention, counseling, and patient/family education
Assist the physician in determining and facilitating the patient disposition and referrals to treatments and community resources post discharge

Either a Master’s Degree in Social Work or Counseling Required
5 Years of Clinical Experience – Substance Abuse/Addiction Required
Licensed Clinical Additions Specialist Required
Certified Clinical Supervisor Preferred
