Make a Difference in the WakeMed Community as a Behavioral Health Licensed Clinician at Cary Hospital
As a Behavioral Health Licensed Clinician (BHLC), you are responsible for the provision of mental health and substance use services at WakeMed. Responsibilities include:
Conducting clinical assessments, diagnosing patients using DSM-5, ICD10-codes, and determining disposition.
Focusing on diagnostic and functional evaluations, safety assessments, patient engagement and/or support system effectiveness.
Collaborating with the multi-disciplinary team including physicians, psychiatry and psychology staff.
Deciding and communicating disposition and level of care, including facilitating voluntary and involuntary commitments as directed by the physician.
Assisting with diagnostic clarification, post-discharge treatment recommendation, identification of treatment options, high-risk behavior mitigation and prevention planning.
Advising the patient, family and responsible medical providers, as needed, to improve quality and continuum of care.
Participating in hospital and community initiatives that address mental health and substance use issues.
Maintaining a working knowledge of relevant behavioral health, medical, and legal issues that impact patients and the hospital system.
Documenting assessment, dispositions, interactions, conversations, etc. according to department guidelines and standards.
Can work independently and prioritize and manage time efficiently.

Master’s Degree in Counseling or Psychology or Social Work Required
2 Years of Clinical – Mental Health or 2 Years of Clinical – Substance Abuse/Addiction Required
At least one of the below is required
Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate
Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist Preferred
Certified Notary Preferred
