UNC CH Gilling's School of Global Public Health is embarking on a diversity and inclusion cohort hire initiative. We understand that a diverse workforce enhances our academic, research and practice missions. The purpose of the initiative is to attract accomplished and talented new faculty members from underrepresented and other groups for faculty appointments.
We invite applications for full-time fixed term faculty positions at the Assistant/Associate/Professor of the Practice/Full Professor level. We seek exceptional scholars with a desire to help us expand our research, teaching, and practice missions to improve public health, promote individual well-being, enhance public health resilience to climate/environmental change, and eliminate health inequities in North Carolina and around the world. These positions could be available within the Departments in the Gillings School of Global Public Health which include: Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Environmental Science and Engineering, Health Behavior, Health Policy and Management, Maternal and Child Health, Nutrition, and the Public Health Leadership Program.
In keeping with the school's strong connections to public health practice and engagement in scholarship related to practice, applicants with experience and interest in conducting community-based participatory research, working with public health organizations and those with leadership experience in empowering public health workers with strategic data, implementation, and system-thinking skills are encouraged to apply.
Depending on rank, the positions may also be expected to conduct independent research in collaboration with scientists from Gillings, other UNC faculty and other academic institutions and public health practitioners. Applicants should demonstrate success in, or the promise of, publishing in high-quality peer-reviewed journals or other scholarly products that are high impact — e.g., technical reports that change policy, evaluations, and leadership curricula Teaching in undergraduate or graduate programs will be required.
Initial rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
