QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs or related area. 2+ years experience in residential life and housing administration is highly desirable.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Housing/ Residential Life
- Develop and oversee a comprehensive program and staffing strategy for the university residence halls to be consistent with the concept of learning communities
- Supervise Residential Life Staff including professional, para-professional and student staff
- Facilitate fall, spring and on-going staff training, on-boarding, and selection
- Coordinate and facilitate staff meetings, professional development and mentoring/feedback
- Coordinate all new and returning student room assignments, selections, and room changes
- Facilitate housing assignments for special student populations across the university and programs
- Coordinate check-in, check-out, and all other residence hall openings and closings
- Manage residential life departmental budget
- Maintain accurate housing records and send monthly reports and billing information
- Support residential life team members in resolving hall challenges and roommate conflicts
- Collaborate with Camps and Conferences to provide planning that will allow for maintenance, support for programs, and assist with housing assignments
- Work with residential life staff, housekeeping, facilities and Campus Safety to ensure clean and safe living conditions in the residence halls
Residence Education
- Promote a living/learning environment in the residence halls and develop communities focused on strengthening co-curricular learning
- Enhance the residential communities programming model and develop a programming model suitable for residence halls, suites and apartment communities.
- Encourage faculty involvement through programming for students in the residence halls
- Maintain data and evaluate all programming created by (RLS) and other entities in housing
- Explore the possibility of creating Living-Learning communities and/or theme housing based on leadership and service to enhance residential living options
- Work with residential life staff to ensure a variety of program opportunities that promote emotional, academic, social, and professional success
- Represent residence life philosophy and needs to other areas of the campus community
- Work with other areas of student development and success to identify and sponsor programs
- Identify students who appear "at risk" and report to support services
- Respond to concerns raised by faculty, staff, students, and parents and respond accordingly
Generalist Responsibilities
- Participate actively as a member of the University to uphold all policies and service expectations
- Participate in the University emergency on call rotation, attend weekly "huddle" meetings to review on-call responses, identify students of concern, and develop response plan
- Serve as a departmental representative to campus wide activities and programs and provide supervision when necessary
- Serve on University committees and planning teams to best serve students (such as the Converse Cares Team, strategic committees, etc...)
- Utilize Jenzabar modules to advance the work of the University, specific responsibility for maintaining housing and judicial records
- Assist with the implementation of events that enhance the University community
- Actively engage with entire campus community to encourage student learning and growth
- Continually work to identify ways to enhance, grow and revise strategies that foster students' academic, personal and professional success
- All other duties as needed to ensure the success of students and the University
