The Associate Director for Freshmen Recruitment is responsible for the development and implementation of a strategic recruitment plan for both in-state and out-of-state freshmen students at East Carolina University. The Associate Director for Freshmen Recruitment reports directly to the Senior Associate Director. This position reports information related to the outcomes of recruitment initiatives and enrollment funnel data for the freshmen team. The Associate Director for Freshmen Recruitment provides leadership for freshmen applications and all freshmen events. This position presents information sessions on behalf of East Carolina University to high school college nights, college fairs, community programs, and other special events.
In addition, this position will counsel prospective students and their families on the educational opportunities at ECU, admission criteria, scholarship programs, and student services within the university. The Associate Director for Freshmen Recruitment assists in the development and maintenance of the office's communication plan for prospective and admitted students. They participate in the holistic review of applications and make recommendations for Admission based on a comprehensive assessment of candidates. This position assists in the development and maintenance of continuing training and development for staff while supervising professional staff members on the freshmen and customer service teams. The Associate Director participates in regular professional development and training initiatives related to Target X and Banner. The Associate Director represents the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at university meetings and committees, where appropriate. Other duties as assigned.
This position will travel and need to be available for some evening and weekend events.
60% Freshmen Team Management
· Develop a strategic recruitment plan for freshmen students
· Support professional staff members of the freshmen team
· Work in conjunction with the Senior Associate Director for regional team member assignments
· Design travel, communication plan, and application committee review process
· Collaborate with on-campus partners and school counselors
· Oversee student contact throughout the entire admissions cycle
· Utilize both virtual and in-person recruitment strategies
30% Recruitment/Customer-Service Team Support
· Co-direct Customer Service team training, retreats, and leadership
· Develop monthly on-call schedules
· Serve on-call/email to support prospective students
· Represent the University at events and presentations
10% Continuous Training and Learning
· Serve on Senior Leadership and marketing team meetings
· Attend and assist with the development of office training for TargetX, Banner, etc.
· Support new staff on-boarding for the Recruitment/Customer Service Team

· Other duties as assigned.

The Undergraduate Admissions Office is to identify, attract, and enroll first-year and transfer students to enhance East Carolina University as a national model for student success, public service, and regional transformation. The office annually processes approximately 36,000 applications for admission. These include freshmen, transfer, readmit, visitor, non-degree, pre-college, and auditor students. In order to generate and process applications from these prospective students, the office is involved in many public relations, marketing, customer service, and other outreach activities to cultivate inquiries for additional information about ECU/application materials.
