Reporting to the associate vice chancellor for museums and creative practice and serving as a key senior leader, the creative director for the Jeanne Tannenbaum Center for Creative Practice (JTCCP) takes an entrepreneurial and collaborative approach to campus and community programming with creativity at the core. The creative director manages the center’s day-to-day activities, creating and sustaining a robust offering of programs and residencies. The director supports the strategic vision established by UNCG’s chancellor and develops and implements all elements of creative programming to highlight faculty research, student learning, and community engagement. The director develops strategic partnerships, works collaboratively with visiting creatives, engages in fundraising activities, and coordinates staff and students to support the center’s activities.
Minimum Qualifications
At least 5 years’ experience and demonstrated success initiating and implementing initiatives that present a varied creative program.
Advanced degree in an arts and creativity management, performing arts, or related field of study, or bachelor’s degree combined with significant related professional experience.
·Experience as the primary person responsible for programming within a larger organization.
Experience working with national and internationally recognized creatives.
Demonstrated experience developing budgets.
Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills with a demonstrated team-based approach to management and excellent consultative and collaborative skills.
Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of people and commitment to diversity and equity.
Strong communication skills with demonstrated ability to present complex information clearly with confidence and credibility, including in public speaking.
Experience in a university or college setting and familiarity with university policies and procedures.
Grant-writing experience.
Interest in and availability to attend evening and weekend events as required.
