Buffkin/Baker is pleased to assist Children’s Hospital of the Kings Daughters Health System, located in Norfolk, Virginia, in the retained executive search for a Director, Mental Health Inpatient Nursing.
Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters Health System (CHKD) offers a network of comprehensive pediatric services in more than 40 locations that stretch from Williamsburg to Elizabeth City, North Carolina. On the outpatient side, primary care, diagnostic services, urgent care, emergency care, rehabilitative therapies, day surgery and care in more than 20 pediatric subspecialties are offered. Inpatient care is also offered at CHKD and is Virginia's only comprehensive freestanding pediatric hospital.
The Director, Mental Health Inpatient Nursing oversees all nursing operations within the pediatric inpatient mental health setting which includes 42-beds and 120 FTEs, while ensuring the delivery of high-quality, safe, and patient-centered care and managing staff and resources effectively.
The Director will:
- Develop and implement nursing policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and best practices
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate nursing staff, providing guidance and support for professional growth
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (e.g., physicians, therapists, social workers) to develop and implement individualized treatment plans
- Promote a therapeutic environment that supports patient recovery and well-being
The ideal candidate for the Director will have significant experience in mental health nursing, with leadership or management experience preferred. A nurse with a bachelor’s degree in healthcare, business or related field is required.
